Carbon Reduction in Contracts  - A Destination Ltd

Introduction

A Destination Ltd, we recognise the urgent need to reduce carbon emissions and contribute to the UK’s Net Zero 2050 targets. As a private hire transport operator, we are committed to minimising our environmental impact through practical, measurable steps embedded into our day-to-day operations and contract delivery.

1. Commitment to Carbon Reduction

We are committed to supporting low-carbon and sustainable transport solutions. Our aim is to reduce our carbon footprint year-on-year by:

  • Improving fuel efficiency

  • Reducing vehicle emissions

  • Optimising route planning

  • Investing in cleaner technologies where feasible

We also recognise our responsibilities under the UK Government’s Procurement Policy Note (PPN) 06/21 and are actively developing our carbon reduction strategy in line with its requirements.

2. Measures in Place / Planned by Contract Award

Low-Emission Vehicle Strategy

  • Our current fleet includes modern, fuel-efficient vehicles that meet or exceed Euro 6 emission standards.

  • We are committed to phasing in hybrid and electric vehicles over the next 2–3 years, subject to infrastructure support and contract volumes.

  • All vehicles undergo regular maintenance to ensure optimal fuel efficiency and minimal emissions.

Eco-Driving Practices

  • All drivers are trained in eco-driving techniques to reduce fuel consumption and emissions.

  • Regular driver performance reviews encourage lower idling times, smooth acceleration, and efficient route usage.

Route Optimisation

  • We use digital mapping and scheduling tools to reduce unnecessary mileage, fuel usage, and emissions.

  • Wherever possible, we coordinate journeys to reduce the number of empty return trips.

Paperless Operations

  • Administrative processes, including bookings, invoicing, and reporting, are carried out electronically to minimise paper use.

Waste Management and Recycling

  • Vehicle waste materials (e.g. oil, tyres, filters) are disposed of using licensed recycling providers.

  • Office waste is separated for recycling, and we encourage a low-waste culture across our team.

3. Monitoring and Reporting

  • We will track fuel usage and mileage to measure emissions, with a view to calculating carbon output using recognised methods (e.g. DEFRA conversion factors).

  • Progress on carbon reduction will be reviewed annually, and we will publish a summary of actions taken and improvements achieved.

  • Any future public contracts will include carbon tracking as part of performance monitoring and reporting obligations.

4. Long-Term Ambitions

Our long-term goal is to operate a low-emission or zero-emission fleet and contribute positively to local authority sustainability goals. We will work closely with councils and other stakeholders to explore grant opportunities, shared infrastructure use, and technology pilots that support a greener transport network.

Conclusion

A Destination Ltd is committed to continuous improvement in environmental performance. By implementing the above measures, we will ensure that our contract delivery aligns with the UK’s carbon reduction goals while maintaining safe and reliable passenger transport.
